Pudge turns 1.
Today, pudge.ithought.org turns 1 year old. It's lasted the longest of any of my servers without problems, probably because I bought it new and paid a lot for it and stuck it in a good colo instead of a sketchy colo or the basement of an office that floods frequently. Pudge has continued to handle the growth of the services it hosts, primarily my email, this website, and Faster Mustache. This ammounts to ~30GB of traffic a month, over 1 million web server hits a month, and over 100 thousand emails a month. Things have gotten a little shaky when all the search engine bots hit at once, and this is primarily due to the swapping that occurs when the 2GB of ram get full. I'm looking at putting another 2GB in there sometime in the near future. Then it's going to be disk IO that will be the bottleneck and it'll be time for a new box with SAS drives.

That all made perfect sense
That all made perfect sense to me...
I'd appreciate it if you
I'd appreciate it if you would remove the link under sketcy colo. Since we've left GNAX we have had zero downtime. In all cases, our uptime has always been 99.99% We've never been in a basement or in a house. The failure was not ours but the actual data centers. If you are still hosted there you've already had additional outages which would suggest the issues remain with the data center not us.
Your posting is not appropriate or accurate.
The basement of a house
The basement of a house comment refers to another place where a server of mine was at one point. After hosting with you for the short amount of time, I moved to BroadRiver and have been a very happy customer there for over 2 years.
As for the specifics of why I refer to your colo as "sketchy", you can read the details in this post: BroadRiver and SiteSouth. I had a very negative experience hosting with you and feel that "sketchy" is an appropriate shorthand for the details on that post. Also note the last sentence of the second paragraph there, reminding people that the experiences expressed are my opinion.
I understand why you'd want me to remove this link but due to the way my account was handled, I'm unwilling to do so. Anyone reading this post should look at the other one I link to in the previous paragraph.
Our original impression of
Our original impression of you as a client seem validated by this type of inaccurate and incomplete posting.
I'd argue that my long post
I'd argue that my long post is as accurate and complete as is reasonable.
Hosting with you was the first time I'd ever put a server into a real hosted environment and my budget was very small, so that was likely pretty obvious. However, I'm fairly confident that even as a 22 year old I was at least asking reasonable questions. It's unfortunate that things weren't able to work out because my budget is several orders of magnitude higher now.
